Board of County Commissioners Hearings on Urban & Rural Reserves

Multnomah County is considering designating areas as either urban or rural reserves. The Board of County Commissioners has heard public testimony and considered recommendations for Urban and Rural Reserve designations in Multnomah County. The recommendations of the Board will be considered by Core 4, along with the recommendations of Clackamas and Washington Counties and Metro,  to develop a regional reserves map for public comment prior to agreement on a final map in February of 2010.

Urban reserves are potential urban expansion areas. Rural reserves will remain protected from urban development for the 40 – 50 year planning period.Areas with no reserves designation are likely to remain rural land for an extended time because urban reserves will be the highest priority for additions to the Urban Growth Boundary.
